It has been a great year for EPM cloud products. For the new coming year, I will keep focusing on the monthly updates. On top of that, I am adding the Probability and Cost Management Cloud Service (PCMCS) and Enterprise Performance Reporting Cloud Service (EPRCS) update news to this series.
Oracle releases the application updates documentation on new features and fixed issues from the Applications Release Readiness site. From there, you will be able to check the update for Customer Experience, Human Capital Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, Supply Chain Management, Enterprise Performance Management.
For PBCS, Enterprise Planning Cloud (EPBCS), FCCS, PCMCS and EPRCS, usually, the latest update will be installed on the first Friday of each month to test environment, and third Friday of each month to production environment. The update will be applied during the normal daily maintenance window.
For the January update, it will apply the latest updates to test environment on Friday, January 5th, 2018 and to production environment on Friday, January 19th, 2018.
In this patch, these are the major updates:
1. Relocate EPM Cloud Environments from One Identity Domain to Another
Starting from this patch, Oracle Cloud Account Administrators can now move an environment from its current identity domain to another. Unifying multiple EPM Cloud environments under one identity domain helps simplify user management and single sign-on configuration. It also supports seamless cross-environment navigation. When relocating an environment from its current identity domain to another, the target identity domain has to be provisioned to the same customer account and in the same data center.
2. PBCS – New Schedulable Job Types that Improve Cube Performance
We can now schedule jobs that improve cube performance. These jobs include:
- Restructuring a block storage cube
- Compacting the outline file of an aggregate storage cube
- Merging incremental data slices of an aggregate storage cube
3. FCCS – Validating Metadata Option
This update includes an option to validate metadata. We can run a metadata validation report at any time to ensure that our metadata is valid. If metadata errors occur, the report displays the dimension name, the member name in [Parent].[Child] format, and the error description. We can use the Dimension Editor to fix the errors.
4. FCCS – Restructure Cube Job
We can now run a Restructure Cube job in the Jobs console. When we select this option, the system performs a restructure of a Block Storage cube (BSO) to eliminate or reduce fragmentation, rebuild indices and remove empty blocks.
The January update is not a major update for EPM Cloud. I will keep my eyes on the monthly updates and will share more ideas going forward. See you next time.
I want looking through and I conceive this website got some genuinely useful stuff on it! .
