EPM Cloud Update – April 2017 – EPBCS & FCCS

April 2, 2017

Oracle releases the application updates documentation on new features and fixed issues from the Applications Release Readiness site. From there, you will be able to check the update for Customer ExperienceHuman Capital Management, Enterprise Resource PlanningSupply Chain ManagementEnterprise Performance Management.

For PBCS / EPBCS and FCCS, usually, the latest update will be installed on the first Friday of each month to test environment, and third Friday of each month to production environment.

For the April update, it will apply the latest updates to test environment on Friday, April 7, 2017 and to production environment on Friday, April 21, 2017.

In this patch, these are the major updates:

1.New EPMAutomate Version

In this new version, a new command maskData will be added in EPMAutomate. The maskData command will mask all application data to ensure data privacy, and it can be used on test instances only.

More details about the EPM Automate command, please check the Command Reference.

2.New Smart View Version

Smart View will release a new version 11.1.2.5.700 in early April, 2017. The version contains new features such as PowerPoint chart support for forms, and a new HsAlias Function. After this new version of Smart View released, I will circle back to see how to use these new features. By the time Oracle will release the Smart View 11.1.2.5.700 Readme as well.

3.Project Revenue Recognition What If Planning

In Oracle Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Projects, you can now perform revenue recognition what-if analysis. This allows you to analyze different revenue recognition what ifs for contract projects, helping in the decision making process for taking up a contract project.

4.Activity Report Update

The Activity Report now includes Financial Reporting report generation activities in the list of activities considered for inclusion in the section titled Top 30 Worst Performing User Interface Actions over 10 Seconds. The report identifies the long running user action and the corresponding report object to help you fine tune your reports.

5.Exclude Dynamic Calculation Members from Data Map

The Exclude Dynamic Calc Members data map option lets us exclude the dynamically calculated members from the data map process in cases where we don’t want to push the dynamically calculated member data. By default, the Exclude Dynamic Calc Members option is not selected and dynamically calculated members are included during a data map push. Please note that this option is not applicable to SmartPush.

To exclude dynamically calculated members, we need to select Data Maps, then Options.

This is what Data Map Options looks like right now. I will check this again once the update patch gets installed.

6.System Setting Update

Whether to allow drilling on shared members in ad hoc grids is now an option you can configure in System Settings. It is under System Settings and Defaults -> Advanced Settings tab -> System Settings tab.

This is current System Settings tab.

7.Display the POV Prompt for Reports

When users click or tap Reports on the Home page, a new Prompt for POV check box displays on the Reports list page that affects all reports in the list that have a POV.

If the Prompt for POV check box is selected, when a report with a POV is launched, a POV member selector window is displayed. If the Prompt for POV check box is cleared (the default), the report launches directly, without displaying the POV member selector window. In this case, the POV members in the report are the most recently used members on the form, or the dimension’s root if there are no most recently used members.

The April update is not a major update for PBCS/EPBCS and FCCS. I will keep my eyes on the monthly updates, and will share more ideas going forward.
