FDMEE Lab – Multi Column Data Load

June 3, 2018

As we know FDMEE (Financial Data Quality Management Enterprise Edition) is a packaged solution for finance users to bring data from other environments. It has a Web-based interface and it is a powerful integration engine.

When the source system is a flat file, we are able to set up the import format to load the data file column by column.

But what if there are more than one attributes for a dimension. For example, a certain product, we need to load multiple statistical metrics to that product, including Date1, Date2, Principal, Rate1, Rate2, Rate3, etc. Using Smart View to submit data will work definitely, but if we want to use FDMEE to handle this process or even automate this process, what would we do?

Fortunately, FDMEE provides us a Multi Column data loading type.

Under Import Format, we can select Multi Column – All Data Type for the File Type.

Let’s take a look at a specific example. We need to load multiple attributes associated with the given loan product in multiple data columns. The related accounts are: Wire Date, Maturity Date, Principal, Note Rate, Originator Rate, and PS Rate.

To make the multi column import work, we need to pick a Driver first. In this case, the Driver is Account. Then we need to load the stats data for these accounts. In the Import Format -> mappings, the data section we should use:

Driver=Account;member=”Wire Date”,”Maturity Date”,”Maturity Date 1″,”Principal”,”Note Rate”,”Originator Rate”,”PS Rate”;Column=2|3|4|6|12|13|14;NZP

Now we finished the Import Format setting, then we will need to set up other FMDEE regular settings, including Location, Period Mapping, Category Mapping, Data Load Rule, Data Load Mapping, etc.

Finally, go to the Data Load Workbench, load the data file. We see for each Loan product / Account combination in the data file has been loaded to the application.

Hope this can help you deal with the multi column data load situation.
