As we know, Data management is the tool for finance users to load data through files or other systems, such as Fusion ERP. But what should we do, when it comes to a situation that we need to transfer data from one instance to another instance, like from cloud to cloud? For example, if we would like to push data from Planning3 to Planning.

 

Fortunately, EPM Cloud gives us the ability to use Data Management as a primary gateway to move data from one service instance to another.

 

Now, let’s see how to achieve this process.

 

Logging into the source EPM Cloud application, we will push data from this instance to another instance. Open up Data Management, and we will see the Source System and Target System settings.

 

For the Source System setting, we can leave it as blank.

 

For the Target Application setting, there are a local application and a cloud application options.

 

Add the EPM Cloud Target Application.

 

Since the target application is a PBCS application, we will select Planning.

 

So now we notice that there are two target applications, one is the local PBCS application, the other is the cloud target PBCS application.

 

Click Refresh Metadata for the cloud target application. Then check the Process Detail.

 

Click Refresh Member for the cloud target application. Then check the Process Detail.

 

The following steps are regular FDM settings. Since these two applications do not have the same dimension settings. The Import Format will not be one to one mapping.

 

Set up Import Format.

 

Set up Location.

 

Set up Data Load Rule. We will need to specify the correct Plan Type for both Source application and Target application. Also, there are numbers of source filters need to be defined.

 

Finally, set up the Data Load Mapping for each dimension.

 

Now, we are able to execute the data load rule to load data. Back to the workbench, we see the data has been successfully pushed to the target cloud application.

 

Data Management gives us the option to do the data integration between cloud to cloud. I will discuss more about the EPM integration in the future blogs. Until next time.
